How does the QR stamp work?
The QR stamp works by adding a QR code to every document certified by a Prevedi24 sworn interpreter, linking to digital confirmation of the certification and content. Scanning the code displays detailed information: the name of the person who certified the document, the certification date, the number and expiry date of the sworn interpreter's appointment decision, and the contents of the original translation. Prevedi24 developed this solution over a two-year development process. It does not alter existing written certification procedures under the regulations governing the work of sworn interpreters in the Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska and Brčko District.
How does an institution verify a translation?
An institution verifies a translation by scanning the QR code on the document using a mobile phone or desktop computer, without any special equipment, registration or additional cost. After scanning, the certification details are displayed immediately (the sworn interpreter's name, certification date, appointment decision number and expiry date), together with the contents of the original translation. The official can then compare the physical document with the digitally verified source. This allows any institution in BiH or abroad to establish within seconds whether the certification is authentic and whether the content has been altered.
Why is the QR stamp more secure than a traditional stamp?
The QR stamp is more secure than a traditional stamp because it confirms not only the certification but also the contents of the translated document. A traditional stamp and signature can be forged, while subsequent changes to the text are often invisible to the naked eye. Even an Apostille confirms only the authenticity of the official's stamp and signature, not the contents of the translation, and the QR code addresses precisely this shortcoming. An Apostille is still required for documents used abroad, except in Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Turkey, which are exempt under an agreement with BiH. The QR stamp therefore reduces the potential for misuse and increases security in international legal transactions.
